From Lynda: Another track from Alan Doyle's upcoming "Boy On Bridge" album, courtesy again of Sonic Entertainment Group; 'Where I Belong' is a beautifully moving modern-day Newfoundland anthem that Alan co-wrote with Russell

The Mail UK: A beautiful mind: College dropout became genius after brutal street attack and now turns mathmatical formulae into stunning works of art - They believe the damage to Mr Padgett's brain has left him with a 'remarkable gift' for figures, much like the brilliant mathematician John Nash. - Thanks, Amy

Souths Win - On the back of a strong first half and holding off a NQL comeback, Souths win their 1000 Premiership game, 104 years later, 20-16! - Thanks, CGee --

Rabbitohs were playing vs Cowboys today. After a great first half were they led 20-0 (3 tries in the first 20mn) playing a lovely built game, they did a poor second half, too many mistakes going to several penalties for the Cowboys who came back 20-16. But finally our Rabbitohs reacted in the last 10mn and won their 1000 Premiereship! First one was 104 yeas ago! Good boys! Up the Rabbitohs! - Thanks, Nicole

Music Rooms: Jennifer Connelly and Saoirse Ronan join cast of Noah - "It has now been revealed that Jennifer Connelly and Saoirse Ronan are also to appear in the film as Noah’s wife and daughter." - Thanks, Nicole

Collider at Cinemacon: Like Fox’s Life of Pi, the brief footage of Les Miserables wowed the CinemaCon crowd.  While we were told what we were being shown was rough, unfinished, and raw, they could release what they showed us and people would start buying tickets. What I didn’t know before the presentation started was that the cast was singing live on-set and we heard Anne Hathaway singing “I Dreamed a Dream” over the visuals were from the first two weeks of filming.  In the approximately 40 seconds of footage we were shown, we saw Fantine (Hathaway) getting her hair cut extremely short, Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) walking the dirty streets, and some extremely impressive visuals that show director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech) is not a one-trick-pony. If you were wondering if Anne Hathway could sing, or if Universal was going to fuck up Les Miserables, the footage we saw today makes the film another early contender for end of the year awards.  I’d be willing to put a lot of money down today that it gets a Best Picture nomination. - Thanks, Tamara

Russell on Twitter: 2 full days off, no singing, just blessed silence... Monday...it's all about multitudes and sentinels #lesmis

Confrontation in the can, love that song, throat well used but in very good form, any press you read to the contrary is just bullshit #lesmis

Variety ShowBiz News: Goldsman fancies Farrell for 'Winter's Tale' -- ...Goldsman's past collaborators Russell Crowe and Will Smith are expected to take on supporting roles along with a flying horse that factors into the plot.

The Belfast Telegraph: Russell Crowe 'struggling to sing' -[ps - Tom Hooper is a perfectionist] - Thanks, Nicole

From Lynda: Sonic Entertainment Group. Alan Doyle's management company, has shared via Soundcloud one of the loveliest of the new songs which will be on Alan's upcoming "Boy On Bridge" debut solo album, due for release on May 15th.

RC at Twitter: Alright, look, slight set back tonight...not that Valjean got away or anything... just misplaced (cough),waiting for dawn, hunt resumes

Thisiswiltshire.co.uk: Big screen beckoning -- "He spent part of his Easter holiday in Greenwich, London, rubbing shoulders with the film’s main stars, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and Ann Hathaway. Cameron became friends with Crowe’s two sons and even got in an argument with the older boy, Charlie, about who directed Star Wars and, said Cameron, he won." - Thanks, Steph

Yahoo Singapore Entertainment: Olivia Wilde reveals co-star car squeeze -- The 28-year-old also addressed the reason Russell Crowe didn’t appear in the movie. The actor was in talks to play Richard Burton. "The part ended up being so small that we felt guilty having Russell come play an extra in our film," she laughed. "I think he would've done it. That's kind of a minor part, but it's an amazing part of this story... My character, who's a real woman named Suzy Miller, ended up leaving James Hunt for Richard Burton who left Elizabeth Taylor for her, and it was a huge scandal. So, yeah, we didn't end up making Russell Crowe come and stand in the shadows for four minutes [laughs]." - Thanks, Steph

Russell tweeting as Javert these days:

Russell Crowe ‏ @russellcrowe Got a tip off on Valjean, will take him down tonight for sure #lesmis

Russell Crowe ‏ @russellcrowe @misssarada In his own words, it was a loaf of bread...that is not my concern, he broke his parole #lesmis

Russell Crowe ‏ @russellcrowe I know it's him, he knows I know...when I confront him tonight, I'll be all... "Valjean...at last..we see each other plain." #lesmis

‘Fairly Legal’ Star Ryan Johnson: I Want to Hug Russell Crowe “I’m all for it,” he says with a laugh. “I think everyone who knows an Aussie should call that Aussie and tell them to stand on the street corner that day. So pretty much anywhere you are, you can just see one and hug them.” As for his choice, “I’d like to hug Russell Crowe,” he says. Although Russ has a bit of a reputation for being scrappy. “I think the guy has a real tender side,” Ryan adds. “We could have a hug and just read some poetry together.” - Thanks, Steph

April 24

Liz Smith in The Chicago Tribune: (Scroll) - NOBODY was more convincing as a gladiator-on-a-mission than Russell Crowe. He received an Oscar for avenging -- as Maximus Decimus Meridius -- the deaths of his wife and child. Russell will be a chilling, relentless Inspector Javert in the upcoming "Les Miserables." And he plays Superman's father, Jor-El, in the 2013 reboot of that franchise, "Man of Steel." The burly Aussie, who disdains the fripperies of show biz, is always working. (Yes, he was born in New Zealand, but he self-identifies as an Australian.) So, what will this talented actor do with the role of Noah, in Darren Aronofsky's biblical take on the guy who builds the ark and saves human and animal-kind? Indeed, what will this "Noah" be like, in Aronofsky's hands? The director is known for his dark, intense and sometimes creepy films -- "Requiem for a Dream," "The Wrestler" and "Black Swan." Cecil B. DeMille he ain't. Well, end of the world stories are always intense, so Mr. Aronofsky might be on solid ground, before it rains, anyway. Crowe will be an interesting Noah. The ark-builder is often portrayed as a foolish heavy drinker. There's nothing foolish about Mr. Crowe's persona. - Thanks, Steph

From Steph: Via Collider: "With CinemaCon kicking off on Monday, we’ll be bringing you lots of coverage from the event throughout next week including interviews, panel recaps, and more.  Steve is already in Las Vegas for the event, and while walking the floor he came across the very first promo poster for The King’s Speech director Tom Hooper’s big-budget movie musical Les Miserables.  For those unaware, CinemaCon is a convention put on for all the major theater owners in order to get a look at what the studios have to offer for the rest of the year; it’s basically Comic-Con for theater owners.  As such, this is just a very simple promo poster that’s pretty much just advertising the stellar cast and the fact that Les Mis is headed to the big screen this year. ...Take a look at the promo poster, which is surely the first of many posters and standees we’ll be bringing you over the next few days. [ed note: Strange that Hooper's name is not on the poster]

Russell Crowe ‏ @russellcrowe walkway Winchester college ceiling ribbed like a ship, so beautiful..realized all memorial plaques on the wall were young kids, humbling

On Winchester College history -- "William of Wykeham was one of the greatest architectural and artistic patrons of his day and his mediaeval buildings at the College are still in use, mostly for their original purposes. As well as Winchester College, he also founded New College, Oxford. These colleges were on a scale hitherto undreamed of in English education and became the model for Eton and King's College, Cambridge later in the fifteenth century. The Archives of Winchester College have unique and important records of the history and the life of Winchester College from its foundation to the present day."

[Richard] Harris said of Crowe: "Top bloke, loves his rugby, doesn't give a stuff, brilliant actor, a much loved new friend. He will carry the baton on.
