The NY Times: Le First Trailer for ‘Les Misérables’ -- Universal has released its first trailer for Tom Hooper’s film adaptation of “Les Misérables,” ahead of its Dec. 14 opening, and it offers many tantalizing glimpses of Hollywood A-listers playing sad Parisians: Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Gerard Butler as the Phantom of the Opera. (Wait, scratch that last one.) But the focus in this first trailer is firmly on Anne Hathaway, who as the ill-fated Fantine offers a rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” that’s as unembellished as her closely cropped hair. If you’re an easy crier you might want to keep handy a box of les Kleenex.

From Allison: The SMH - Scroll to As The Crowe flies -- RUSSELL CROWE'S lack of face time at the Rabbitohs should not be taken as a sign that his interest in the club is waning. Crowe has hardly been sighted over the past 12 months, that is simply because he has been busy in his day job, and his acting has had him posted overseas for some time. From Cindy: For those interested, here is a 2 part short docu (~18min) done for 20/20 back in early 1987 just as Les Mis was first being staged. (See You Tube links below - Russell is the new Charles Laughton!) - Comments from Cameron Mackintosh and the music composers as well as short bits from the original London production. Very interesting background information. Actually, Bring Him Home was partially written (at least the way it was written) because of Colm Wilkinson's voice and watching him perform it in rehearsals gave me goosebumps throughout. A cute story about that, after Colm sang it that first time in rehearsal there was absolute silence afterwards. One of the directors finally said "That's a prayer, I told you, this story is about God." Then one of the actors said "Yes, but you didn't tell us you had engaged him to sing it." -
