How much fun was this game??!! It was unanticipated and so enjoyable! After the Penrith game the previous week, this match against the leaders in the comp who were coming off a two game losing streak left you with a bit of a 'gird your loins' feeling that it was going to be a difficult night to be a Souths supporter. But instead of a one sided landslide of Dragon trys what we were treated to instead was a Rabbitoh team who were confident, aggressive, determined and one that seemed to have found the joy in their footy again!
The game was a highlight reel for just about every player. As much as the Dragons didn't impress in any area, Souths dominated in just about every aspect. I thought Wendell Sailor would have a good game but instead of being impressed by him I came away with total respect for Dave Tyrrell. Every time Wendell caught the ball, he came to a grinding halt mostly because Dave grabbed hold of his legs and didn't let go! Tyrrell's tackles were solid and assured; much like the intensity that Michael Crocker brings to every game.
Their season is almost over but with this remarkable game and a decisive win against the Sharks next week coupled with the addition of Dave Taylor as well as possibly Sam Burgess, they are ending the year on a high note. All signs bode well for an exciting and successful 2010! |
