'Starlet' rubs more luster off Faye Dunaway

UNIVERSAL CITY -- Last Sunday, three more actors -- Jamie Foxx, Morgan Freeman and Cate Blanchett -- joined one of Hollywood's most elite groups at the Academy Award ceremonies. They will forever be introduced with the phrase "Oscar-winning."

The term is treated like the Southern California answer to knighthood. This royal moniker may be more hype than fact. Look at what has happened to past "Oscar-winning" actors:

Cher, best actress for her work in the 1987 film "Moonstruck," has made only three movies since picking up the award. She's better known for workout videos, infomercials ... and that never-ending farewell tour. Russell Crowe has had only two movies released since his 2000 win for "Gladiator," though he did earn kudos starring in "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World."

Halle Berry won a Razzie this year for starring in the perfectly awful "Catwoman," after winning the 2001 best actress Oscar for "Monster's Ball." That's as bad as Geena Davis, best supporting actress winner for the 1988 film "The Accidental Tourist," starring in "Cutthroat Island."

Helen Hunt won the best actress Oscar in 1997 for "As Good as It Gets" and then had her scenes deleted from the 2001 movie "One Night at McCool's."

None of these Oscar-winning performers, though, seems to have fallen from as much grace as Faye Dunaway.
As if starring in the campy 1984 film "Supergirl," wasn't bad enough, Dunaway next can be seen starting at 8 p.m. today as one of the celebrity judges for The WB network reality show "The Starlet.".... and the article continues...

Hello Rick.

I wanted to comment on your "'Starlet' rubs more luster off Faye Dunaway" that appeared today.

About this part "Russell Crowe has had only two movies released since his 2000 win for "Gladiator," though he did earn kudos starring in "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World."

You DID NOT mention "A Beautiful Mind" in which he earned a 3rd Oscar nomination & the film won Best Picture & several other awards. He won numerous acting awards for this film like the "Golden Globe".

So, he did win "kudos" for this film as well.

You need to be fair in your comments.
Thank you.
