November issue of the UK Sky magazine thanks to Lorraine: When Stars Change Their Lives Forty two year old Russ may have won an Oscar as every girl’s perfect gladiator, but he’s become better known for his hot temper than his box office heat. He tussled with BAFTA Awards producer Malcolm Gerrie in February 2002, scuffled with pop star Moby in an Aussie toilet that same year and, most famously, hit a New York hotel worker with a phone in 2005. That last ruckus was rumoured to have cost Russell a second Oscar® for his performance in this month’s Sky Movies premiere Cinderella Man and he was criticised yet again in the tabloids. The star is back in cinemas this month with romantic comedy A Good Year as a businessman finding life and love in the south of France. And privately, Russell is a changed man. His marriage to Danielle Spencer has mellowed him considerably, and he couldn’t be more proud of their sons Charlie, tow, and Tennyson, four months. “Every single day of my life is significantly better because I’m a father,” he explains. “Every week with my wife, we notice a deepening of our relationship and a better understanding . Having a new baby is very exciting and the whole priority of my existence begins with what my children and wife need.” Though Russ is utterly convincing as Cinderella Man’s underdog boxer who inspired a nation, these days Mr Angry is just a big softie: “I can’t understand how I managed to cope without getting cuddled this many times a day.” Aww! E! Daily’s Juliana DePandi says: The real Russ: “He’s a charismatic, extremely passionate guy and also very funny – nothing like how he tends to be portrayed in the papers.” Family Life : “Ultimately, his priority is on being a good father and husband, rather than a Hollywood star. Russell’s family life has always been the most important thing in his life and helps him to keep his feet firmly grounded.” The definition of talent : “Russell is one of our finest, most passionate actors. I think he definitely has the talent to win more awards.” |
