Set Report:

I was on the set of Duplicity as a Background actor this past Sunday. The Director is Tony Gilroy and it stars Julia Roberts, Clive Owen, Paul Giammatti (I hope I spelled his name correctly) and Tom Wilkinson. It is being produced by Universal. It was a large scene involving Clive Owen and Julia Roberts. We were filming in and around Grand Central. Clive was on one side of Grand Central while Julia was on the other. Clive sees Julia across the concourse and heads toward her. She sees him and starts to head out of the terminal. Then the chase continued on to the street. You could see in Clive’s eyes he was intent on catching her. I was near Clive Owen for most of the day. Through the scene Clive remained in character and barely spoke to anyone around him. He seems like a nice guy although he kept to himself most of the time. He had a stand in for a lot of the rehearsals. There was one make up lady there that rushed to his side between each take to fix his hair and straighten his tie. Every now and then he would be talking to the director, his makeup lady or someone on the crew and a smile would light his face. There was quite a crowd watching the entire day and it was hard for the crew to keep people from using the flash on their cameras. Clive didn’t seem to notice or wasn’t bothered by the crowd from what I saw. They are filming all over New York City. The other day I saw Clive again this time they were filming by Central Park, again Clive was looking out over the Park as if he had spotted someone. I was not working on the film this day just passing by so I don’t know what Clive was looking at or for, but it seems like he is doing an awful lot of spying/stalking in this film. I believe the film is an espionage thriller. I have also passed filming by Bryant Park near Lord and Taylor.

Julia Roberts is Stunning. I saw her several times and once close up. She and Clive had a nice relationship and it looked like they worked well together they stayed connected though out the scene. The set was really unorganized the crew was having a problem telling the Background Extra’s from the crowd of spectators, commuters and tourists. The commuters and tourist were the worst though they would not listen to the crew when they were asked not to walk past or take another direction out of the terminal. The filming was from 4:30 AM till almost 8PM so after doing the same thing hour after hour, as you can imagine all I wanted to do was go home and relax.
